AFP’s Defending the American Dream Summit
Last weekend, seven ACT members from KC travelled to DC for the DAD 09 Summit. For several, it was their first political conference. When we arrived at the Mariott in Crystal City, we were greeted by hundreds of patriots who took their time and resources to attend the conference. First stop, signing the giant poster!

On Friday, there were workshops put on by groups like the Leadership Institute and American Majority. We split up and hit them all.

Then, we headed over to the Capitol for the Hands Off My Healthcare rally. It was really neat, and over 1,500 people attended from all over. Afterwards, Carl Bearden our MO State Director, led everyone to Ike Skelton and Claire McCaskill’s offices to drop off DVD’s.

Friday night was the Reagan Dinner, and after waiting in line for a good hour, we were able to all sit together at good tables!

Besides hearing from great speakers like Laura Ingraham, Mike Pence, and AFP’s Tim Phillips, it was a blast getting to know other Missourians.
Saturday morning we got up bright and early for the opening session with Newt Gingrich. It was set up state delegate style like convention and Carl got us great front row seats.

All the speakers on Saturday were excellent. We heard from Newt Gingrich, Jim DeMint, Hugh Hewitt, Herman Cain and lots of other great people. Megan and I went outside to meet them after their speeches and got some great pictures and autographs.

It was awesome to meet so many other people who are willing to take the next step and learn how they can defend our freedoms. If you get a chance to go next year, do it!
