The Light of Liberty

December 24, 2009 Leave a comment

In 1981, the world watched as the Polish Communist government, consenting to orders from Moscow, declared martial law and shot or imprisoned dissenters.  After a meeting with Romuald Spasowski, the Polish Ambassador and his wife who had defected to America just the day previous, Ronald Reagan did an extraordinary thing*.  He asked, on Christmas Eve in 1981, for the American people to light a candle and place it in their window as a sign of support with the people of Poland who sought freedom.  To show the people of Poland we understood that “the light of liberty still glows in their hearts.”

This Christmas Eve is not like that Christmas Eve.  There is not martial law in America, that “great, shining city upon a hill.”  We have, however, been given the dubious gift of health care (despite our overwhelming opposition) by our Congress with the vote early this morning by the Democrats in the Senate who also voted to raise the federal debt limit by $290 billion to $12.4 trillion.  And yet we, the American people, are still not being heard

So today, as we did 28 years ago, let us light a candle and place it in our window.  Today though, let our candles reaffirm our own belief of freedom and liberty.  Let them show that the principles proclaimed in the Declaration of Independence and put into action by the Constitution still define us; as a people, and as a nation.

Merry Christmas and may God continue to bless America!

Obama’s Big Climate Bummer

December 22, 2009 1 comment

Hurry, hurry! The time for talk is over. Global emergency according to Gore, who fears we may only have seven years left before we are swallowed by oceans. Woe is us! We’re surely doomed!

Oh, but wait. Before I run around in a panic because I’m not doing “enough”, I have a question. Just a teeny, tiny one if you can spare a second.

What does this mean?

The latest hit to climate-change credibility comes via an embarrassing revelation from Ben Santer, one of the lead authors of the 1995 U.N. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change Working Group I report, which is one of the holy documents of global warming theology. Mr. Santer admitted that he deleted sections of the document that stated that humans were not responsible for climate change.

A Firable Offense

Hmm, what to file this under…

Birds of a feather flock together?

You get what you pay for?

Be careful what you ask for?

I’ve got it! How about: Do as I say, not as I do.

I couldn’t explain this any better than Heritage, so I won’t even try.

Meet our candidates…

November 16, 2009 1 comment

In case you haven’t already heard, we’re having a campaign forum on December 3rd, 7PM. It’s at 9760 N Pomona Ave, KCMO.

If you’ve ever thought about running for office before, but aren’t sure where to start, this is a great meeting for you!

As part of our new effort to elect conservative candidates, I’m excited to introduce our first announced candidate, Sherri Plunkett.

Sherri also happens to be my mom. Throughout the past year, we’ve had a lot of conversations about the fact that we as conservatives must stand up and take action. She’s a huge believer in the power of one person to make a difference, and I think that we can start to make some positive change if we start electing people with our best interests in mind. That having been said, I couldn’t be more excited for her to be part of our candidate recruitment efforts, and if you’re thinking of running, now is the time!

The Truth About Socialism

November 13, 2009 Leave a comment

Because many of you under 30 don’t really understand why Americans nationwide are going to tea parties and speaking out. The thing is if you don’t learn from history, you are doomed to repeat it.

We must not give up, we must not tire. This is a lesson we must teach over and over until the utopian myth is gone.

BREAKING-Scozzafava drops out of NY-23

http://www.politico.com/blogs/scorecard/1009/BREAKING_Scozzafava_drops_out_of_NY_23.html

Scozzafava has dropped out of the running in NY-23; thanks in no small part to Americans voicing their support for Conservative candidate, Doug Hoffman. The sleeping giant is awake and stirring. Can we keep up the momentum to elect politicians who reject the liberal agenda being shoved down our throats? I hope so; and NY-23 is definitely a race to keep your eye on.

What a great way to start the weekend before election day.

So, are P & G profits on Clorox immoral?

The truth can only be stretched so far before it snaps back at you. The claims made by the Obama Administration and other Democrats concerning the “immoral” profits made by insurers are now debunked. As the numbers show, 2 + 2 still equals 4 despite claims to the contrary.

Health Care House Calls

October 30, 2009 Leave a comment

pfbig2When: Thursday, Nov. 5 , Noon- 1 p.m.

What: Congressional “House Calls” to McCaskill (any all state district offices – see below), Carnahan and Skelton.

What to do: Gather with friends outside the district office at noon; ask to speak with a staff member. Explain your concerns about the health care proposals under consideration and deliver your letters, stories, petitions, etc.

What to bring: Bring your sign, your personal story of why you don’t want a Washington takeover of health care, and a hand-written letter for your member of Congress. Patients First, a project of AFP, will have an “Rx for Real Reform” prescription available for download from our Web sites, www.JoinPatientsFirst.com and www.americansforprosperity.org. This will be a one-pager expressing the type of real reforms we’d like to see, as well as some things to vote NO on. You’re making a “House Call” — better bring the right prescription! Also, bring your camera and send us your pictures — we’d love to post them.

As the health care debate has drawn on, we’ve heard from our contacts on Capitol Hill that calls and visits to the district offices make a big impact. One congressman even admitted that his D.C. staff are “calloused” and said the district offices are a better way to get a message through to the members.

So we’re marshalling an effort to turn folks out to the district offices of senators and congressmen on November 5. As you know, Nancy Pelosi revealed the latest proposal for government controlled health care yesterday. It is more of the same, bad medicine for America and we must do all we can to stop it! She plans to vote it out of the House on November 11. The Senate plans to begin “work” in earnest in the next week or so also. Combine this with the fact that we’ll be fresh off an election cycle which hopefully sends a loud message two Washington, many people will be politically aware and attuned to what is happening if they are not already.
